Jeannie

I began my End of Life (EOL) work as a volunteer with the North Hawaii Hospice in 2008.  I started my specialized EOL Doula training and certification with INELDA in 2015 and continue with ongoing education, volunteering and private practice in this field. Currently, I am affiliated with Wilshire Hospice, Hospice of SLO County and the Pacific Death Doula Collaborative.

I am an advocate for “dying on your own terms” and my approach is to help you in whatever ways and practices are important to you, assisting you to prepare for your death while simultaneously focusing on enjoying the rest of your life.

Some of the things my work can include are:

  • Planning for the rest of your life

  • Assisting with death documents and memorial planning

  • Companionship and someone to talk to openly without fear or judgment

  • Respite for your caregiver

  • Rides to and note taking at Dr. appointments

  • Life review and legacy work

  • Companionship and compliance assistance with MAID (Medical Aid in Dying)

  • Exploring options and planning for disposition of remains

  • Organization and downsizing

  • Planning for and assisting with sitting vigil

  • Guided meditations/ visualizations

  • Serve as a Celebrant

  • Use of rituals

  • Other things related to assisting a terminally ill patient and/or the family with the dying process.

My goal is to help people and their families who are terminally ill, make their death as uncomplicated, beautiful, peaceful, personal, and sacred as possible for them whether they are at home, in a facility, or in service with another (or no) hospice.

I prefer to work in person however, I will also serve you by zoom or telephone.  There is never a charge for an initial consultation.  Prices depend on the services provided and I offer pro-bono services in special circumstances.

I live and serve clients in San Luis Obispo County but will discuss travel for service and/or can help you find another Doula closer to you.
