Beyond The Veil
Doula Collective
A Circle for Deathworkers: Community, Education, and Sacred Support
What We Do:
Beyond The Veil brings together death doulas, caregivers, educators, musicians, healers, artists, writers, therapists, nurses, and other allied practitioners to share knowledge, build connections, and support people navigating death, dying, grief, and loss.
Death belongs in community.
Death touches us all, yet so often, our culture encourages us to experience our grief in quiet isolation. Don’t cry out loud, don’t grieve too long, don’t “trauma dump”, don’t make anyone uncomfortable…this is but a snippet of the list of unspoken social rules we have about death and how we process it.
But death is uncomfortable, and messy and painful, and those who know Death as a teacher know that tears are powerful medicine, and one hand to hold can make all the difference.
We don’t need individualistic and de-ritualized death care, we need communal practices to expand our capacity to hold the weight of our collective grief that is asking to be felt and alchemized.
Whether you’re supporting someone who is dying, grieving a loss, grappling with existential grief, or seeking support and guidance in your death work practice, you are welcome here.
