Directory Meeting
The BVDC Directory meeting this month is focused on discussing the process and next steps to incorporate as an LLC including legal, financial, and logistical planning.
Death Cafe for Deathworkers
Tess Bloomer will be guiding our first death cafe of the year. This is a death cafe specifically for deathworkers — death doulas, caregivers, doctors, nurses, therapists, morticians, and any other professionals walking closely alongside death. As with all death cafes, this is a non-heirarchical space with no specific agenda or subject. In the spirit of the practice, we invite you to bring a cup of coffee or tea and something sweet to enjoy during our time together.
The Magdalene Mysteries
Join us for a special Easter gathering. Magdalena DeRosa will be facilitating our April call, guiding us through an experiential process to connect with the wisdom of the gnostic priestess of death and rebirth — Mary Magdalene.

Author Talk with Corinne Dempsey
For our second gathering of 2026, Beyond The Veil Doula Collective invites you to a book reading and author talk with Corinne Dempsey. She will be sharing about her latest book “A View From Life’s Edge: Discovering What Really Matters With Older Women Across The Globe”.
Corinne Dempsey is professor and chair of Religious Studies at Nazareth University in Rochester, NY. She teaches on world religions, Hindu traditions, comparative mysticism, and war and peace in world religions. Her ethnographic research and writing has been with Christians in South India, Hindus in the US, spirit workers in northern Iceland, and most recently with women over 80 in California, Iceland, South India, and the Sisters of St. Joseph in Rochester. If asked, she would tell you that her most rewarding project so far has been her most recent one, in the company of older women.
Griefwalker Watch Party
For our first meeting of 2026, we invite you to grab some popcorn and get cozy for a matinee showing of Griefwalker featuring Stephen Jenkinson.
We will have time for a short discussion after the meeting.
